The Drift Line That Shaves Seconds Off
Racing games on Toolnex — Skyline Speed Race, Highway Racer, and Drift Master — reward one skill above all others: carrying speed through a corner instead of losing it. This guide breaks down the line that consistently produces faster laps and higher distance records.
The mistake: braking in the corner
Most players slow down inside the turn. That's the slow way. The fast way is to do all your slowing before the corner, then accelerate through it. A car (or in Drift Master, a sliding car) that's already at full throttle mid-turn exits faster than one still recovering from a late brake.
The racing line in three points
- Brake on the straight. Lift off early, while the road is still straight.
- Apex the bend. Aim for the inside of the corner's tightest point.
- Accelerate out. The moment you pass the apex, full throttle — the road is opening up.
Traffic weaving (Highway Racer & Skyline)
In the highway games, the real opponent is the traffic, not the clock. Two habits help:
- Look two cars ahead.Reacting to the car directly in front is too late. Read the gap beyond it.
- Hug a lane edge, not the center. An edge lane gives you one escape direction instead of two half-blocked ones.
- Grab stars with intent. In Skyline Speed Race, chase stars only when the lane is already clear — a star isn't worth a spin-out.
Drift Master: style is score
Drift Master scores on style, not just speed. The trick is to chain drifts through consecutive checkpoints without fully straightening. Tap the brake to initiate the slide, then steer into it — fighting the slide kills your combo. On the midnight circuit, a clean chained line beats a fast but sloppy one.
Practice drill
Open Drift Master and spend five minutes just chaining two-checkpoint drifts. Once that feels automatic, move to Highway Racer and practice the "two cars ahead" read. Your distance records on all three will climb within a session.
